TEACHER GUIDELINES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To ensure an orderly operation of the Co-op, it is important that the classes offered, along with the teachers, reflect these guidelines.
- The SALT Co-op Committee must approve teachers, students, classes, and curriculum.
- Subject matter taught must be from a Biblical, Christian worldview.
- Two to three teachers may be assigned to teach one class. Lead teachers must communicate with your co-teacher and share the responsibilities of teaching the class.
- It is recommended that communication with parents and students be handled by the teacher throughout the year. Teachers are encourage to send group emails or text messages to parents for any updates regarding the class.
- Student discipline – Discipline problems should first be addressed by the teacher directly with the student and parent first. Second offense should be brought to the committee members. This must be upheld by all teachers and parents. Unresolved discipline problems will be handled by the co-op committee.
- Teachers are responsible for leaving their room neat and orderly (boards erased, floor clean, chairs pushed in, table wiped down).
- Once a teacher has committed to teach a class, it is expected that the class will be taught for the entire time period stated. If a teacher must be absent due to illness, family crisis, death, funeral, etc. the teacher must notify her teaching partner (if applicable), as well as a member of the Co-op committee, no later than 8:00 am the day of class. It is our goal that no one teacher be overwhelmed in teaching a class. The responsibility to teach falls on all the teachers of your assigned class.
- Salt co-op is a commitment. We highly encourage all teachers to make all scheduled co-op dates
